YPN Scholarship
What is It?
The MAOPS YPN Postgraduate
Scholarships are scholarships presented to under-40 osteopathic postgraduate physicians with a desire to connect with the osteopathic family in Missouri.
Why Apply?
The MAOPS YPN seeks to foster engagement withing the profession in an environment sensitive to the needs of young physicians and their families. They also desire to encourage postgraduates physicians to become engaged with MAOPS and the YPN to strengthen the osteopathic family and profession in Missouri.
Award Amount:
$1,000, plus registration and lodging at the annual conference for the postgraduate physician, their significant other, and children if applicable. $500 will be awarded at the annual conference with the remainder awarded after fulfilling obligations for the Young Physicians Network.
What are the Requirements:
- MAOPS membership ($10 per year)
- Desire to connect with other under-40 physicians, postgraduates and medical students.
- Goal of practicing in Missouri upon completion of postgraduate training.
- Ability to attend and participate in the entire Missouri Osteopathic Annual Conference the year of the receiving the award, (www.maops.org/moac) and the MAOPS Annual Membership Meeting.
- Active participation on the MAOPS Young Physicians Network for the year following the conference.(“Active” is defined as attending all meetings and volunteering to assist in some YPN work during the year)
- Completion and submission of the YPN Scholarship Application. (www.maops.org/YPNPGYScholarship).
- Applicants should currently NOT be highly engaged with MAOPS or the YPN. The selection team will focus on those who have not previously been highly engaged with the organization but have a desire to do so.
Method of Selection:
The MAOPS YPN will select candidates for the award based on applications and potentially individual interviews. Awardees will be notified by March 1.
Application Window: Applications can be submitted online from October – January annually, with awardees being notified by March 1.
The mission of the MAOPS Young Physicians Network is to connect osteopathic medical students, postgraduates, and
young physicians through social and educational events and to provide resources specific to their personal and professional goals.
