History, Mission and Vision

History

The Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) has been the voice of osteopathic physicians in Missouri for 125 years. We’re most often associated with advocacy for the osteopathic profession at the local, state and federal level.

From our office in central Missouri, our staff members assist and advocate for the doctors of osteopathic medicine (DOs) in the Show-Me State.

Thanks to MAOPS dedication to – and advocacy for – the osteopathic profession, DOs around the state of Missouri enjoy the same practice rights as our medical doctor (MD) colleagues. Today, MAOPS has a seat at the table when issues important to physicians and healthcare arise!

Mission

• The mission of the Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons is to advance the distinct philosophy and practice of osteopathic medicine.

Vision

• MAOPS will be the organization that osteopathic physicians and medical students think of first for advocacy and professional resources.
