Advocacy Training Scholarship
MAOPS will be co-hosting an advocacy training workshop with the Missouri State Medical Association (MSMA) on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 9 AM-2 PM. A candidate fundraising event will follow in the evening. The MAOPS Young Physicians Network will host a social in between the workshop and fundraising event. This will be a great time to not only learn some tricks to become an effective physician advocate, but to network with other physicians and medical students from around the state from both MSMA and MAOPS. Lobbyists for MAOPS and MSMA will be present, as well as guest speakers, including some legislators and their staff.
To encourage attendance, the MAOPS Young Physicians Network and William L. Wetzel Osteopathic Education Foundation are offering a limited number of scholarships for eligible members to attend the event. Successful applicants will receive:
- Free registration to the workshop, including meal functions, the social, and fundraiser
- Hotel accommodations for one or two nights
- A MAOPS YPN T-Shirt
Applicants must be MAOPS members under the age of 40. Student members* must be active members of their campus MAOPS chapter.
*Student chapter members willing to share rooms with fellow students will receive priority consideration.
