YPN Outstanding Young Physician
The YPN Outstanding Young Physician is presented to one physician during years when a worthy candidate exists for an outstanding accomplishment, event or service during the preceding calendar year. All candidates must be members of Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons.

The 2025 MAOPS YPN Outstanding Young Physician is Patrick Nakashima-Moran, DO.
Dr. Nakashima-Moran is a practicing physician for Esse Health in St. Louis. He is a 2015 graduate of KCU-Kansas City and completed residency at Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis.
Dr. Nakashima-Moran has been involved with MAOPS since residency. Since that time, he has risen rapidly through the leadership ranks, serving on nearly every committee and as an AOA delegate. As Chair of the MAOPS Virtual Education Committee, he has been instrumental in developing and implementing the MAOPS VOCCME Virtual Conference, which has become the primary revenue generator for the organization.
In 2023, Dr. Nakashima-Moran was recognized by the AOA as an Outstanding State Emerging Leader. As a YPN member, he has provided the network with the perspective of not only a young physician, but also as a leader in the organization. This has been invaluable during the YPN’s first year.
