Member Types

Practicing Physician

Must be a graduate of an American Osteopathic Association approved medical school, currently licensed and practicing medicine or an allopathic physician who has trained in an osteopathically focused postgraduate training program and/or is board certified by an American Osteopathic Association Specialty Board. Practicing Physician members have access to the Member Assistance Program.  (Annual Dues: $450)

Newly Practicing Physician

A physician who meets the Practicing Physician criteria but is within their first three years after completing their postdoctoral training. The dues rate for the newly practicing physician category is 50% of the practicing physician rate. Newly practicing physician members have access to the Member Assistance Program. (Annual Dues: $225)

Non-Practicing physician

A physician who meets the practicing physician criteria, but is currently not deriving income from the practice of medicine in any form. This category may include retired physicians, missionaries, volunteers, etc. This category of membership must be specifically requested by a practicing physician member of at least the previous three consecutive years and be approved by the Board of Trustees. The Board reserves the right to request evidence that the physician is not practicing medicine. If approved, dues will be reduced 50% from the “practicing physician” category. No additional member discounts other than those offered to practicing physicians will be given. Years of membership as a non-practicing physician shall not be applied to the requirement for Life Membership. Access to the Member Assistance Program for non-practicing physician members is available for an additional fee. (Annual Dues: $225)

Postdoctoral Physician

Must be a graduate of an American Osteopathic Association approved medical student or an allopathic school graduate who is training in an osteopathically focused postgraduate training program and serving full time in a professionally accredited or approved post-graduate program. Access to the Member Assistance Program for the postdoctoral physician member is available for an additional fee. (Annual Dues: Free)

Student Member

Enrolled in full time study in an American Osteopathic Association approved college of osteopathic medicine. Student members shall be eligible for benefits and services of professional membership as determined in policy by the Board of Trustees. Students shall not have voting privileges except as provided under Article IX, Section 1 of the Bylaws.  Access to the Member Assistance Program for the student member is available for an additional fee. (Annual Dues: $5).

Professional Associate Member

Eligible applicants may include allopathic (MD) physicians who do not qualify for professional membership, assistant physicians (AP), pharmacists, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) currently on faculty at a medical school, and other licensed professionals on faculty at a Missouri medical school. Access to the Member Assistance Program for Professional Associates is available for an additional fee. (Annual Dues: $225)

Friends of MAOPS

Will include key staff for physician members and Professional Associate members and other friends of the profession. Friends must apply for membership and the Board will grant membership. Access to the Member Assistance Program for Friends of MAOPS is available for an additional fee. (Annual Dues: $125)
